A city with a long history and lots of charm, this was the venue for the 12th annual Transnational Lighting Detectives Forum, the largest forum in the books yet.  Architecture students from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) were the center of the 3-day forum focusing on SENSING LIGHT  &#8211;  FEELING LIGHT.  The Mexico City nightscape comes with many problems and we worked with local students to examine how local residents asses the nightscape and addressed ideas for improvements or upgrades.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/shomei-tanteidan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/4fa1c603da3f720e2da0c2d96b84db4a.jpg\" alt=\"609A4419_\u8ffd\u52a0\"  \/><br \/>\n<span class=\"caption-sm\">Presentation on Last day of the forum<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u25a0Day 1: Orientation<\/p>\n<p>The orientation was held at the Museo de Luce, a building over 400 years old.  The workshop started by dividing into 6 teams of 10 participants and 2 TNT members. <\/p>\n<div class=\"tile-45\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/shomei-tanteidan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/15534922db4b83ac76be31c0603107f2.jpg\" alt=\"02_\u30b7\u30f3\u30dd\u30b8\u30a6\u30e0\u4f1a\u5834_Museo de Medicina\"  \/><br \/>\nMuseo Medicine<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"tile-45\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/shomei-tanteidan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/a02b8ef60061aa4433fe13fc276296e3.jpg\" alt=\"02_\u30ef\u30fc\u30af\u30b7\u30e7\u30c3\u30d7\u4f1a\u5834_Museo de Luce\"  \/><br \/>\nMuseo de Luz\n<\/div>\n<hr class=\"end-tile\">\n<p>\u25a0City Night Walk<\/p>\n<div class=\"col45-right\">\n<p>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/shomei-tanteidan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/2a6147343092cb0defce80621cff2c73.jpg\" alt=\"04_\u8857\u6b69\u304d_03\"  \/><br \/>\nAsking question during Night walk\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The night walk focused on six distinct areas in Mexico City.  1. Plaza Santo Domingo, an area bustling with people during the day.  2. Temple Mayor Area, an area of Aztec ruins.  3.  Madero Zocalo, a historical area popular with tourists.  4.  Alameda Park, the oldest park in Mexico City is also a local oasis and place of relaxation.  5.  Revolution, the area near the Monument to the Revolution.  6.  Reforma, the central business district. There seemed to be more time at this workshop than previous years, so each group discussed in depth the images taken on the walk.  Several shots were debated as heroes and also villains of light.  Finally, the groups came up with decisive keywords to help in classifying and drawing conclusions.<br \/>\nTNT members helped students to have intensive discussion but not giving TNT members&#8217;s judgement of previsions night walk. In order to do this, we believe local people were able to find their problems by themselves and conclude their original proposals.  <\/p>\n<div class=\"tile-45\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/shomei-tanteidan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/691269263f653045b32854cc9765ea8b.jpg\" alt=\"05\uff3f\u30b0\u30eb\u30fc\u30d7\u30c7\u30a3\u30b9\u30ab\u30c3\u30b7\u30e7\u30f3_04\"  \/><br \/>\nSketch for proposals\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"tile-45\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/shomei-tanteidan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/82a1cfe810c5cbd77543738a09a4ae94.jpg\" alt=\"05\uff3f\u30b0\u30eb\u30fc\u30d7\u30c7\u30a3\u30b9\u30ab\u30c3\u30b7\u30e7\u30f3_02\"  \/><br \/>\nDecide lighting Hero and Villain by looking at images took during night walk.\n<\/div>\n<hr class=\"end-tile\">\n<p>Day 3: Presentation<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/shomei-tanteidan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/6af86b73062617be4a4834eeea4fe303.jpg\" alt=\"06_\u30b7\u30f3\u30dd\u30b8\u30a6\u30e0\uff3f02\"  \/><br \/>\n<span class=\"caption-sm\">Each team has 20 minutes to give presentation<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Each team put together a power point presentation and 3 large panel boards.  The 20-minute presentations including 3 heroes of light, 3 villains of light, problematic points in the nightscape, and betterment proposals.  <\/p>\n<div class=\"tile-30 firstcol\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/shomei-tanteidan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/IMG_2358S.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_2358S\"  \/><br \/>\nEach team made three presentation panels\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"tile-30\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/shomei-tanteidan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/DSC05242.jpg\" alt=\"DSC05242\"  \/><br \/>\nPresentation\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"tile-30\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/shomei-tanteidan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/DSC05275.jpg\" alt=\"DSC05275\"  \/><br \/>\nAt last part of the forum, each TNT member made some comments.\n<\/div>\n<hr class=\"end-tile\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/shomei-tanteidan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/b709ace70f48fed9438788c153615500.jpg\" alt=\"609A4534\u8ffd\u52a0\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>As one of the official event of National Year of Light, we had a lot of attention and received participants not only from lighting industry but also municipal officials from Mexico City, cultural affairs and media.<br \/>\nParticipants seemed to enjoy discussion and night walk with TNT members and satisfy with their lighting proposal to the city.<br \/>\nTo stand lighting point of view, people realized many lighting problems which hardly been noticed in daily life.
