Blue Light and Shadow in a Paris Apartment<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This\nscene is in a large loft in a renovated house. \nCircular neon lights mounted on the walls glow. The morning sun streams through a window,\ncreating long shadows of the window grate. \nAt the tip of this rhythm of light and shadow, a white enamel bathtub\nstands alone. A mysterious man is seen\nsmoking a cigar through the steam while he soaks in his morning bath. A Vietnamese women returns home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Quietly, the man says, \u201cIf you ever do that\nagain I’ll send you back to Vietnam.\u201d \n\u201cDon’t be mad. I`m in a good mood\nright now.\u201d \u201cWait.\u201d \u201c….\u201d \nThen the Diva`s angelic voice resonates throughout the loft. \u201c The man can’t hide his surprise. He takes the cigar out of his mouth and says,\n\u201cThe first act of La Wally. Cynthia\nHawkins. How did you get that? It hasn’t been released.\u201d The lady just laughs and smiles as she places\none leg on the edge of the bathtub. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This bathtime scene is blessed with\nsunlight and is undoubtedly the all star of beautiful cinematography taken\nthroughout the \u201cDiva.\u201d The delicacy of\nlight and shadow are truly overpowering and one can really grasp the love\naffair between parisians and natural light. \nEven indoors one is still bathed in sunlight. And then the angelic singing…ah, what a\nluxurious start to the day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Let’s take a deeper look at the lighting in\nthe outstanding scene. The sense of\nhappiness in the air is created by the blue tones of the shadows and shimmering\nreflections of light. European interiors\nfavor sharp contrast between light and shadow and make a point of adding color\ntones to the shadows. Especially in this\nscene, the inspiring rays of the morning sun are made even more innocent by the\nfaint tones of blue in the shadows. \nAlso, compared to the blue tones, the sense of twinkling particles of\nlight, stirred up in the air, shine on the bath water and reflect off of the\nman’s face. In contrast to this scene is the postman,\nJules, and the beautiful opera singer, Cynthia, \nstrolling through the Tuileries Garden. \nThis mismatched couple sit down on a bench near the fountain and\ngradually the space between them closes. \nJules tries to put his arm around her. \nShe notices and smiles. There\naren’t any words, but everyone knows it is a sad, short-lived love affair. There is no intense sunlight shining in the\ngarden, but Cynthia is still holding on\nto her white sun parasol. Under that\ndull Paris sky the white sun parasol is too obvious. Natural sunlight in Paris can be intense, as\nif it is announce the budding emotions of an overbearing love affair. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
