Akasaka Sotobori Street

The first thing I noticed was the huge gap between Akasaka's crowded alleys and the empty main streets. The area around Akasaka-mitsuke has a three-lane road on each side and a 6.5-meter sidewalk, so visibility is good, but tall buildings stand like a heavy wall in front of you. Although Tokyu Plaza and other buildings are illuminated and advertising lights of various sizes are scattered, there are not many lighting elements that define the outline of the streets, and the buildings blend into the night sky. And this was probably the reason for the darkness I felt when I looked down at the city from a high place. For ground-level street lighting, 10-meter-high HID lamp pole lights are used, and lights are installed separately for roadways and sidewalks. A specially designed reflector plate is attached to the top of the sidewalk light fixture to create an accent.
