東京調査　東京ドームシティ＋周辺環境

東京の中心地に位置する後楽園は歴史ある庭園を始め東京ドームや遊園地、スパ、ショッピングモールといったエンターテイメント施設を抱える。また一本道を隔てると、オフィスや商店街、住宅街が広がる地域へと続き、エンターテイメントの光と暮らしの光とが隣接した他に類を見ないエリアとなっている。

今回はエンターテイメントの光と暮らしの光という対照的な光が隣り合う街の調査ということで、どこかにお互いのエリアへの干渉や連続性が読み取れるのでは、という予想のもと調査に臨んだ。

■東京ドームシティエリア
　エンターテイメントの代表といえる遊園地。カラフルで目まぐるしく点滅する照明。そんなイメージを抱いていたのだが、東京ドームシティは意外にも落ち着いた光に囲まれていた。
　シビックセンター２５階の展望台から東京ドームシティを見下ろすことが出来る。東京ドームの屋根は幕を空気圧で膨らませた構造となっているが、内部の光が透過することは無く外周を囲んでいる青いネオンが淡い青色の光を放っていた。この光はドーム上部や隣の小石川後楽園の暗さの中でも、程よい輝度であると感じた。東京ドームシティ全体としてこのネオンの光を基準として作られている様に感じ、適度な輝度、落ち着いたスピードの明滅、原色でない混色された光で構成されていた。
　ただしここまで遠景の輝度としては良好であったが、近景から見た場合に無理に床面照度を確保しようとしていると感じる場所があった。離れた場所からの投光照明により、浅い角度からの光はグレアを感じ、のっぺりとした空間となっていた。また一部の樹木は緑色にアップライトされており、その不自然な緑色の塊はまるで大きなブロッコリーのように見えた。他では丁寧な色の調整がされていたが、ここでは原色が使われていたことは残念だった。
　東京ドームシティでは2016年2月から2019年1月にかけて段階的にリニューアル工事が行われているとのこと。外構についても外灯の増設やLED化などが行われるそうなので、丁寧な光の改良が望まれる。（木村光）

■千川通り周辺エリア
　ドームシティ周辺の大通り沿いには高さのあるオフィスビルやマンションが混在しながら連なっている。一帯は車道を照らすポール灯と店舗からの漏れ光を基本に光が構成されており、ドームシティ内の光とは対象的に感じられた。　白山通りと並行して伸びる千川通りにはアーケードを持つえんま商店街がある。文化財を有する源覚寺由来の歴史ある商店街だが、アーケードの下にはLED化されたむき出しの白色のライン照明(5500K)が取り付けられており、路面照度は150lx程。青白く光るこのあかりは古くからある商店街とは似つかわしくなく、違和感を感じさせた。

■商店街と住居エリア
　ドームシティを背に千川通りを進むと徐々にマンションや一戸建て住宅が広がってくる。スズラン通りには鈴蘭の花のように照明が垂れ下がる意匠的な街路灯が立ち並んでいた。街路灯は4700Kの光で路面を明るく照らし、内部に取り付けられているLEDはグレアを感じさせた。路面の平均照度は100lx程あり、住宅街のあかりとしては明るすぎるように感じられる。向かいにある柳町中通り商店街に立つ街路灯もLEDを用いており色温度は4000Kだった。
　街のあかりとしては高い色温度のものが目立ち、どこか情緒に欠けた印象が残る。住居エリアや商店街は色温度を低くすることで、街としてより暖かみのある風情が生まれるのではないか。（高橋翔作）

■まとめ
　調査前、エンターテイメント施設と住宅エリアがこれだけ密接していると、その派手な演出照明が施設外に好ましくない影響を及ぼしているだろうと予想していた。しかし実際は良い意味で私たちの期待を裏切るものであった。
　前述のように東京ドームシティの光環境はカラーライトが多用されてはいるものの、控えめな輝度と落ち着いた青色を基調としている。街の構造上、春日通りや白山通り、千川通りといった大通り沿いに中高層の建物が並びその裏手に戸建てや低層の住宅が広がっている。そのため住宅ゾーンからドームシティの光が目に入ることはほとんどなく、違和感や不快感を感じさせなかった。
　調査した各商店街を含む千川通りはこの地域のシンボリックな通りとなることを目指し整備されてきたそうだが、新たに置き換えられたと思われる光源は過剰に白く明るい印象を受けた。そのため安全性は高そうではある一方、暮らしのゾーンとしては落ち着きや安らぎを与える光環境とは言い難かった。
　華やぎを地域の核としながらも異なる機能を持つ周辺地域とうまく共存しているという点で今後発展していくエリアの参考として学べることが多くあるのではないだろうか。（河野真実）

Belgrade Chapter, one of Lighting Detectives Chapters, just finihshed its annal event “Belgrade of Light” with great success. Here is a report from Serbia.

Since 2008, Belgrade of light has had the opportunity to host numerous experts in the fields of architectural lighting design and art to develope and promote of the culture of light.

This year we will spin the color wheel and immerse ourselves in the spectrum of diverse knowledge and experiences. We will explore different angles, directions and points of view, driven by a great desire to discover the opposites that may be complementary – light as art vs light as science vs lighting design.
In 2016 we have an opportunity to present CPS’s multifaceted educative scientific exhibition “Spectrum” which will display the wavelengths of light from its visible to its invisible nature, followed by lectures and debates of eminent national and international speakers within the “Complementary Contrasts” symposium.
We have the pleasure to present worldwide acclaimed Mexican lighting designer Gustavio Avilés, as well as distinguished astrophysics professor Tijana Prodanović. In the part of the programme dedicated to the “Brilliant Serbian Scene’, eight bright stars from the fields of science, art, architecture, biology, physics and design will present and share their visions and ideas. Inspired by the exhibition and the theory of spectrum, the workshop “Shimmering” will be traditionally dedicated to the youngest creative visitors.

The exhibition ‘Spectrum’ is dedicated to light – the light we perceive and that which we don’t yet which surrounds us at all times. In a range from ultraviolet, over the spectrumvscale detected by the human eye, to infrared radiation, the exhibition offers a unique opportunity to test various effects of electromagnetic waves.

Exhibition “Spectrum” is produced by the Center for the Promotion of Science within the initiative to celebrate the International Year of Light 2015.

■THE SYMPOSIUM “COMPLEMENTARY CONTRASTS”

Inspired by multidisciplinary values, observed form the angle of three different professions and three spheres of knowledge – lumino art, lighting design and science – we continue to explore the nature and the phenomenology of light.
We begin our journey with a lecture by lighting designer Gustavo Avilés from Mexico, known for his poetic speeches and narrative plot-twists.
We will then be steered through the secrets of the universe and astronomy by the prominent professor and lecturer, President of the Scientific Committee of the Novi Sad Astronomical Society, astrophysicist Tijana Prodanović. The second part of the symposium continues to explore contrasts, guided by the brightest creative individuals of the national sky.
The ‘Brilliant Serbian Scene’ will present brilliant stars in the fields of science, art, architecture, biology and physics. Speakers include: Zorica Matić, Nevena Kovačević, Milan Đurić & Aleksandar Vuja/DVA Studio, Marija Barić/Maria Barić Studio, Miroslav Sretenović/Incredible Bob, Dejan Pantelić, Vladimir Jovanović and Ana Anakijev & Dejan Mojić / Belgrade Lighting Detectives.

Children Workshop “SHIMMERING”

This year Belgrade of Light focuses on exploring the core values of light and on celebrating 160th anniversary of the birth of scientist and inventor Nikola Tesla.

The workshop Shimmering 2016 will officially launch Belgrade of Light’s long-standing ambition to establish the Mobile Laboratory of Light, a project which aims to take us on a journey of adventures and experimental studies of light. We draw our main inspiration for the Shimmering edition 2016 from the framework of the ‘Spectrum’ exhibition presented at the KC Grad Gallery.
Under the guidance of curators from the Center for the Promotion of Science, children and young people will have the unique opportunity to acquire substantial knowledge on the colors of the light spectrum, electromagnetic wavelengths and many other interesting topics.
The ‘Shimmering’ will be traditionally organized in cooperation with Belgrade educational institutions.
