A profound lightness and darkness soaks into the classic streets of London. There is not any flashy propaganda, but the orange street lights in the late night fog bring the history of the city and its lights alive. The question now is how much further London is willing to renovate its historic streets. Light sneaking out from the pubs and alleyways conveys the flavor of London`s streetscape. It comes as a surprise that there are not more night viewing points along the Thames River. There are no observatories from which to view the entire city, creating a shortsighted view of the city. The stone facade of the architecture matches the fine light of the matiere.
Christof FielstetteLighting DesignerHamburg Light and shadow are fundamental elements of our world and have always inspired the imagination of humans. Light is the source of life, it allows us to perceive the world around us and gives us orientation. Shadows, on the other hand, are the absence of light, they are created when light is blocked by an object and can sometimes be unsettling or even frightening. However, despite their contrasting nature, light and shadow also have a lot in common. They are both essential for balance in our world and offer us the opportunity to see things from different perspectives. Without light, there would be no shadows and without shadows, no light. They rely on each other and cannot exist without the other. In nature, shadows provide a welcome change from bright, sun-drenched landscapes. They can be an oasis of coolness in the heat or a refuge from rain. They are an important part of the landscape and contribute to its diversity. Shadows also have a symbolic meaning. They can be a metaphor for the dark sides of human nature or for insecurity and fear. At the same time, they can also serve as a place of rest and relaxation, a place to protect oneself from the scorching sun. Another important aspect of shadows is the beauty they can radiate. In art, shadows are often used as a means to add depth and dimension to a picture. In architecture,…
Theme『Working your way up』 Interviewer: Masafumi Yamamoto Yamamoto Masa:Today I would like to talk about working your way up the professional ladder As a student one is still in a position of have one’s ideas and opinions heard, now as a member of society, I feel I can’t completely listen to everyone’s ideas. I don`t think I am a very good listener when I comes to opinions. Mende:That’s what you might think, but in college I think you probably were a better listener than you remember. You were the student leader of the Koizumi Studio, right. I think maybe you just don’t like to listen to other people. When listening to someone’s opinions you have to take in the ideas, interpret, and then react. It`s a very strenuous process. Yamamoto Masa:Mr. Makoto Koizumi is my former college professor. On campus he is open and friendly, but during extra-curricular activities he was very strict. We got into a row once and I still remember it. One should always remember the names of those they are working with. Be genuine when complimenting good food. Know your surroundings, be considerate of those around you, and act accordingly. These are a few things I wasn’t able to do and learned the hard way. Mende:You were not in my studio class at the university so I didn’t think you had an interest in light and lighting. But here you are at LPA. What changed your mind?…
Manhattan is a sleepless city of luminous spectacles, a city everyone dreamed of in the 20th century could have imagined. The energy of the people is transformed into the bright lights of the nightscape, as lights dot the skyscrapers all day and night. The beauty nightscape at New York City is best seen in its skyline from across the river. Looking down on Manhattan from the Empire State Building at dusk. The Streets and Avenues present a rock-solid, ridged foundation. The RCA Building glows a bright white, Fifth Avenue is a yellowish-gold, and the point of the Chrysler building can be seen. Walls of light surround Times Square with the latest technology incorporated into the different interactive lights. The Empire State Building, a well-established icon in the Manhattan skyline with a 360°view from the top.
